In this article we will be looking at pet allergens and the best air purifiers for removing those allergens from the air.

Pet allergies are caused by proteins inside animal’s saliva, skin and urine.

Proteins are the allergens, not the saliva, not the skin, not the urine. It is the actual proteins inside of these substances that trigger the allergy.

These allergens, these proteins that actually trigger the allergic reaction, they become airborne when the substance around these proteins dries.

With saliva, the protein is usually first transferred from the animal’s mouth to its fur where it dries. That’s where the saliva dries and that is where the protein is then released to the air.
