If there’s one dessert that screams fall comfort, it’s a good old-fashioned pecan pie.
Sweet, nutty, and rich with that irresistible caramel-like filling, this pie has been a holiday favorite for generations.
The best part?
You don’t need any fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients—just a whisk, a handful of pantry staples, and of course plenty of pecans.
Whether you’re baking it up for Thanksgiving, bringing it to a family gathering, or just treating yourself to a cozy weekend dessert, this homemade pecan pie recipe is simple, delicious, and guaranteed to impress.
What you’ll need:
4 large eggs
1 cup butter flavored pancake syrup
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1 Tbsp flour
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup pecan halves
9″ pastry pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the filling:
- In a large bowl, crack in the eggs and whisk until slightly frothy.
- Add pancake syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, and flour. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- Stir in the chopped pecans.
- Assemble the pie:
- Place your pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and flute the edges.
- Pour the pecan filling into the crust.
- For a decorative top, arrange pecan halves in concentric circles on the surface of the filling. (If skipping decoration, add an extra ½–1 cup of chopped pecans to the filling instead.)
- Bake:
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 45–55 minutes.
- If the pie begins to brown too quickly while the center is not set, loosely tent the top with foil to prevent over-browning.
- Cool and serve:
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 30–60 minutes before slicing.
- For next-day serving, refrigerate the pie and warm individual slices in the microwave for about 30 seconds before serving.
