Whether you’re gearing up for Derby Day or simply craving a slice of Southern comfort, this easy Kentucky Derby Pie recipe has you covered.
With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you’ll have a classic dessert that’s sure to impress at any gathering!
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup chopped pecans
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1 additional teaspoon all-purpose flour
Mix the first five ingredients in the order given.
Combine the nuts and pecans in a medium bowl with the additional teaspoon of all-purpose flour so the nuts and chips are coated. This prevents them from sinking to the bottom of the pie. Fold this into the first mixture.
Pour into an unbaked 9 inch pie crust.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until browned.
Cool completely before cutting.
Refrigerate leftovers. When eating later, you might want to warm a slice for a few seconds in the microwave – but not too long, or it will be runny.
