Ingredients:

• Green cabbage – 2,2 lbs | 1 kg
• Carrots – 5 oz | 150 g
• Apples – 7 oz | 200 g
• White onion – 3 oz | 90 g
• Lemon juice – 4 tbsp
• Mayonnaise– 6 tbsp
• Sugar – 1 tbsp
• Salt – 1 tsp

How to Make Coleslaw:

1. Finely chop or shred the cabbage and finely chop the white onion. Grate the carrots and apples using a large grater. Pour lemon juice over the grated apple and mix well.
2. In a bowl, combine cabbage, carrots, onion, apple, sugar, salt, mayonnaise, and mix well.
3. Serve as a salad, side dish, or appetizer with main courses, or as a filling for burgers, sandwiches, or hot dogs. Optionally, garnish with fresh greens when serving. And Enjoy!

Advices

1. The prepared salad can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
2. You can use green cabbage and red cabbage.
3. Mayo can be substituted with a dressing made from yogurt, apple vinegar, honey, mustard and Worcestershire sauce, or replace half the mayo with yogurt to reduce calories.
4. You can add also finely chopped celery stalk, fresh parsley, green onion, fresh celery leaves, the taste will be richer.
5. White onion can be replaced with yellow, red, shallot, or green onions. If yellow or red onion is too sharp, marinate it briefly in a mixture of apple cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, or rice vinegar and water for 5-10 minutes before use.
6. Lemon juice can be substituted with apple cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, or rice vinegar, adjusting the quantity.
7. Granny Smith apples were used in this recipe; you can use sour apple varieties like Kanzi, King David, Braeburn, Lucy Glo or others sour apples.
