Ingredients

Chicken Cordon Bleu:

• 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• 8 thin slices ham
• 8 thin slices swiss cheese
• ½ cup flour
• 1 large egg
• 1 tablespoon water
• 1 cup plain bread crumbs

Creamy Dijon Mustard Sauce (optional):

• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 cup milk
• 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Working one at a time, place chicken breast between two pieces of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Use a mallet to pound chicken to 1/4-inch thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
